About Monica

Describe Yourself in One Word: LEARNER

​

Monica Bunai has the best job in the world. She gets paid to read books. Ok, there is a lot more that goes into being a high school English teacher, but that is the biggest perk of all. She has been teaching secondary English at the high school level since 2015. She earned her Master of Arts in Teaching from Loyola University Maryland in 2015, and she achieved National Board Certification in 2022. Monica's teaching passions involve planning and assessment, especially in regards to the writing process. 

 

As a lifelong learner, Monica cultivates an attitude of continuous improvement and loves to share her learnings with a community of educators to enhance their practice. She hopes to teach education at the collegiate level one day.

Monica has desired to write books of her own since she was a child and avid reader. "My mother always said she wanted a child with blue eyes who loved to read. Boy, did I deliver!"
